What to Pack

  • General Clothing & Essentials

    In spring the weather is generally sunny though nights can be cool. It’s essential to bring the right kit for maximum enjoyment.

    Waterproof clothing – a waterproof jacket with hood.

    Hiking boots/shoes - we aim to do some long hikes so make sure you’ve worn in your footwear and have proper hiking socks.

    Comfortable Casual Clothing – For downtime or meals 

    Warm Jumper or Fleece – For evenings or cooler days.

    Hiking Gear. Including Lightweight Hiking trousers/shorts

    Underwear & nightwear

    Activewear – for yoga

    Swimwear - for optional cold swims

    Personal Toiletries including suncream

    Notebook/Journal & Pen

    Personal medication

    Backpack

    Water bottle

    Travel adapter - UK plug

    Chargers for phones, iPad, kindle etc - The Masia has excellent wifi. However we invite you to switch off during the day and spend minimum time checking your tech.

Although this is a wild part of Spain it is surprisingly well connected and served by 5 airports :

• Castellon de la Plana: 1hr 30mins
• Reus (Barcelona): 1hr 50mins
• Zaragoza: 2 hrs
• Valencia: 2hrs 30mins
• Barcelona: 2hrs 30mins

Barcelona and Valencia have plenty of flight options from all London airports and Edinburgh and Glasgow. Castellon de la Plana airport is just over an hour from Mas de la Serra.

Satnav Instructions:

From Barcelona
It is best to head to Tortosa and then Valderrobres

From Zaragoza (Includes driving from ferry ports)
It is best to head to Alcañiz and then to Monroyo and Fuentespalda.

From Reus
Direction of Alcañiz and then turn left in Calaceite. Then direction Valderrobres (sometimes referred to as Vall de Roures in Catalan) continuing to Fuentespalda.

To Mas de la Serra: 

From Valderrobres (sometimes referred to as Vall de Roures in Catalan)

On leaving Valderrobres drive 10km towards Fuentespalda on A1414.  The masia’s turning is signposted on the left next to a farm building just before you reach Fuentespalda. From here it is a 4km steep road with signs at each junction. The road is only part paved and a decent hire car with a bit of clearance is advisable.

From Valencia head to Castellon  (Castelló in Catalan) continuing to San Mateo and follow directions below.

From Castellon airport  head to San Mateo /  Morella and then Monroyo and finally Fuentespalda.

Final directions from Fuentespalda to Mas de la Serra:

The Masia is signed on the right hand side about 1km after the village next to a farm building entrance.  From here it is a 4km steep road with signs at each junction.  The road is only part paved and a decent hire car with a bit of clearance is advisable.
